Wealth doesn’t change all at once.
It compounds quietly. A career accelerates. A business grows. Equity becomes meaningful. Real estate enters the picture. Trusts are created. Family priorities expand. Over time, financial decisions begin to overlap in ways they never did before.
A decision about taxes affects estate planning. A liquidity event reshapes long-term family goals. An investment choice ripples across entities and generations.
At a certain point, wealth stops behaving like a set of accounts.
It starts behaving like something far more interconnected.
Vista was built for this moment.
Vista is Root’s premier private wealth management tier, designed for families with significant wealth and even greater responsibility. It exists to help families manage layered financial lives that span entities, investments, tax strategy, estates, and generations—without losing sight of the values that shaped that wealth in the first place.
This is a higher standard of wealth stewardship, built for modern financial lives.
Why We Built Vista
Root has always believed that advice should rise to meet your life.
That belief guided the firm as it helped families build strong foundations, make intentional decisions, and create flexibility as life evolved. But as Root worked alongside families whose financial lives continued to expand, a clear pattern emerged.
The challenge was rarely access to expertise. Families often already had capable investment managers, CPAs, and estate attorneys.
What was missing was connection.
Decisions were made in parallel. Strategies lived in silos. Well-intentioned advice produced fragmented outcomes simply because no one was responsible for designing how everything worked together.
Vista is Root’s response to that reality.
With Vista, you can:
- Build a long-term strategy aligned with your family’s vision and values
- Incorporate private equity, private credit, real estate, and direct indexing
- Coordinate across business entities, trusts, and real estate holdings
- Access advanced planning for tax, estate, and insurance needs
- Steward wealth thoughtfully across generations
This new service tier reflects how the work changes when decisions carry greater weight and their impact stretches far beyond the present moment.
Designed for a Higher Level of Complexity
Vista was built deliberately, with the understanding that wealth at this level demands more than isolated decisions or disconnected services.
Every part of the work is designed to operate together. Investments are shaped alongside tax considerations. Cash flow planning reflects business ownership and real estate holdings. Estate planning is informed by liquidity, governance, and long-term family priorities. Private investments are evaluated in context, with an eye toward how they fit into the broader picture over time.
Rather than addressing each area separately, Vista provides a disciplined way of working that accounts for sequencing, tradeoffs, and long-term implications. Decisions are made with perspective. Strategy follows values. Implementation is coordinated across disciplines. Regular reviews ensure plans continue to reflect reality as circumstances evolve.
The result is a structure designed to support decisions with lasting impact.

Who is Vista For?
Root Vista is designed for those whose financial decisions extend beyond a single balance sheet. That could include:
- Founders navigating liquidity events or business transitions.
- Executives with equity compensation and concentrated positions.
- Families with complex estates, trusts, and multi-generational priorities.
- Investors seeking sophisticated strategies across private and public markets.
Vista is not defined by a single number or threshold. It is defined by interdependence.
When decisions affect multiple entities, people, and future generations, Vista provides the structure to support them.
Integrated Coordination From Day One
Working with Vista means engaging a dedicated team built for this level of responsibility.
Senior advisors and specialists across planning, investments, tax coordination, estate strategy, and client service work together as one. This team collaborates closely with your existing CPAs and attorneys, ensuring decisions are aligned rather than compartmentalized.
Families can expect long-term strategy grounded in their values, integrated portfolio design across public and private investments, proactive tax and estate coordination, and ongoing strategy sessions as life evolves.
The result is thoughtful, deliberate progress—decisions made with context and care
Now, Let’s Answer Your Questions
What are your fees and how do you charge?
We charge a transparent, tiered percentage based on the assets we actively manage—starting at 1% for the first $1 million and decreasing as your assets grow. There are no commissions, hidden fees, or extra charges for tax or estate planning, and billing is done monthly for flexibility. If we’re not delivering value that exceeds the cost, you’re free to walk away—no long-term commitments.
How do you justify your fee?
Our fee reflects the value of having a trusted partner focused on your entire financial life—so you don’t have to become your own advisor. We provide both quantifiable benefits (like tax strategies and withdrawal planning) and priceless peace of mind, helping you make confident, intentional decisions about retirement, lifestyle, and legacy. Ultimately, you’re investing in your time, clarity, and confidence—not just spreadsheets and returns.
What happens after I start working with Root?
Once you start working with Root, you’ll have a kickoff meeting where we dive deep into your goals, values, and current financial picture. From there, we begin building a personalized plan through a series of focused meetings—covering income, investments, taxes, estate planning, and more—designed to help you live the life you want, not just the one you can get by on. Planning continues with ongoing support and regular check-ins to keep your strategy aligned as life evolves.
Where will my money be? Do I still own the accounts?
Your money is typically held at Charles Schwab, an independent custodian—think of it like a secure grocery cart where you own everything inside. The accounts stay in your name, and we act as your advisor with limited authority to manage them on your behalf. We don’t work for Schwab or earn commissions, so every recommendation we make is in your best interest.
How does transferring money work?
Transferring your investment accounts is simple and secure thanks to the ACAT system, which moves assets “in-kind”—meaning nothing is sold or changed during the transfer. Whether you’re moving an IRA or brokerage account, your investments stay exactly the same; the only difference is where you log in. We don’t make any changes to your portfolio until you approve a personalized plan built around your goals and tax strategy.
The Same Root Experience, Expanded for What’s Next
Vista doesn’t change how Root works with clients. It extends it.
The same people-first approach, attention to detail, and long-term partnership remain at the center of the relationship, while the level of support expands as life evolves. For families stepping into Vista, this brings continuity—familiar faces, deeply personal guidance, and advice that stays grounded in what matters most to you.
Vista was built so families can move into their next chapter without starting over.
If you’re new to Root, welcome. And if you’ve been with us along the way, thank you. You’re exactly where you belong.
